Who Are We?
Horizon Science Academy Austintown is a public K-2 charter satellite school of Horizon Science Academy Youngstown. After its continued success led to it being rated a 4 out of 5 school, HSA Youngstown is opening another K-2 building in Austintown.
HSA Youngstown, founded in 2010, is a charter public school that serves nearly 390 students across grades K-8 and provides its students with an innovative world-class education. Our curriculum is not only science and technology focused and rich in math but prepares students to become bold inquirers, problem solvers and ethical leaders, skill-ready for post-secondary education to meet the challenges of a competitive global workforce.
Walk through the doors of our school and you would feel a palpable sense of something unique and strong. Students’ faces of all nationalities, race, economic backgrounds and scholastic levels exude unspoken confidence. Hallways buzz with excitement and the moment you are introduced to the students and faculty, it becomes clear that this is a school that changes lives.
We have built a culture where everyone in our building holds each other accountable. Our administrators, teachers and families have high expectations of our students and students have high expectations of their teachers. This school-wide philosophy has resulted in high levels of student achievement.
HSA Youngstown is operated by Concept Schools, which is a not-for-profit charter management organization that manages high-quality charters in the Midwest. All Concept-managed schools implement the school design created by Concept in 1999 and have experienced great success in and out of the classroom. Concept’s award-winning work over the last two decades has helped the organization build a strong reputation for being the leader of the public charter school movement in the Midwest.
